The Sun moved into Pisces on February 19.
Pisces is ruled by planet Neptune. Pisces marks the culmination of the circular evolvement of individual awareness back to spiritual wholeness. Neptune is that part in us that is able to experience oneness with all that is. When we feel connection and compassion for others, for humanity as a whole, even for other species, and for our selves, we draw from our “spiritual heart”. The energy of Pisces entices us to live from that greater heart as a way of life.
This hasn’t been easy for humans to do. In the illusion of separation that this physical world presents to our limited senses, we’ve tended to live in fear of others, afraid that death is the end of everything. Religions have given us hope for more and at times have been instrumental in “awakening” some individuals to actually experience more. However, in the end, religion is only a set of beliefs and practices that at best points the way (Sagittarius/Jupiter), and at worst detracts from or blocks the way.
Though unseen by human eyes until recent centuries, Neptune has always been in play in our inner worlds. For lack of experience in how to realize our inner Neptune in a healthy way, we humans have made distorted attempts. Drugs, alcohol, cults, martyrdom, mental illnesses and others means have been used for ages to imitate the expanded awareness we have when in our genuine mystical connection to others. On the other hand, the same means have been used to shut down the deep pain we have felt when our intuitive compassion has actually begun to absorb the collective pain of humanity. Realization of Neptune requires a strong enough ego to channel the full vital force of light and love available to us through true alignment with our soul. Historically, the artists and mystics have been the pioneers in this effort.
Synchronistically, it was just after scientists discovered Neptune in 1846 that large numbers of people began to claim freedom from religious authority and declare their rights as individuals to discover their own paths toward “God”, toward spiritual enlightenment. What had always been secret and occult schools of mystical wisdom now became popular movements in our societies, allowing multitudes, for the first time in history to be able to say, “I am spiritual, but not religious”, without being killed or banished by society.
Today, there is a mass spiritual awakening across the globe as humankind confronts the crises of collective survival that naturally sprang from living in the illusion of separateness. It is Pisces/Neptune that calls us to feel past the fears, remember we are love (God), and live our lives with that bold awareness for creating the beautiful world our hearts know is possible.
The New Moon on March 8 joins five “planets” in Pisces, including Neptune itself, Mercury (mind), and Chiron (healing). This is an auspicious time to take a bold leap of faith by committing to infuse spiritual awareness and fearless compassion into grounded plans for the future. Saturn (pragmatism) will square with Neptune for the course of this year. Don’t let others dissuade you from trusting your intuition, imagination and dreams as guides to your truth about what is possible. Uranus (intuition) continues to trine with Saturn. You are in good company and you are needed. Resist escape, fantasy or numbness. It’s ok to sense the pain of this world and just bless the perfect imperfection of it all. It’s not yours to bear.
On your own birth chart, look into which house this New Moon falls. This, along with any natal planets and aspects there, will give you clues as to which part of your life you are most able to make a solid contribution by expressing your heart with more spiritual awareness.
On March 23, just after the spring equinox, the Full Moon will have the Sun in Aries, along with Mercury, a good time to turn your commitments into clear-headed actions. Mars (personal power) is approaching Saturn, boosting the energy of pragmatic actions. While retrograde in April and May, there will be pause for recalibrating actions, before Mars hits Saturn exact in August.
